What R2S Offers

At Read to Succeed Asheville/Buncombe, we understand that literacy development is a shared community effort. Whether you are an educator, volunteer, tutor, youth services professional, librarian, afterschool or camp provider, or a partner organization supporting young learners, your role is essential.
Our training packages are designed to equip participants with practical tools, research-based strategies, and culturally responsive approaches that strengthen literacy support across a wide range of settings. Each training centers on creating joyful, inclusive, and literacy-rich experiences for the children and families you serve.

How We Customize Your Training

Every organization and audience brings unique strengths and needs. Before your session, we schedule a preparation and scope call with key stakeholders to understand:
  • Your goals for the training
  • The needs and experiences of participants
  • The context in which literacy support is being provided (classroom, afterschool, library programming, tutoring, family engagement, etc.)

Using this information, we tailor your training to deliver relevant, actionable content. Depending on your audience, customized modules may include:
  • Foundations of early literacy development
  • Evidence-based reading and language practices
  • Creating literacy-rich environments in any setting
  • Supporting diverse learners through differentiated approaches
  • Using assessment or observation to guide instruction or tutoring
  • Engaging families and caregivers in literacy learning
  • Building positive reading identities for children
  • Trauma-informed and culturally sustaining literacy practices

Each training is led by experienced literacy specialists and trained community educators who reflect and understand the lived experiences of local families and students.

What Participants Receive

Your training experience extends beyond the workshop itself. Following the session, participants gain access to resources that support ongoing implementation and learning. These may include:
  • Digital copies of presentation slides and handouts
  • Children’s books for classrooms, libraries, tutoring programs, or OST settings*
  • Evidence-based literacy games and hands-on activities*
  • Recommended reading lists, articles, and research summaries
  • Short video demonstrations of instructional or literacy support strategies
  • Access to R2S’s growing library of literacy tools and materials

By investing in a customized literacy training package, your organization strengthens its capacity to support young learners—whether in schools, community programs, homes, or beyond. Together, we can cultivate a love of reading and help students build the skills they need for lifelong success.
