Read a decodable text that supports additional practice in the skills covered above with your letter/sound drills and word build. Click the button below to access free online decodable texts.

WORD AND SENTENCE DICTATION

Procedure:                                    
  1. Tutor says, "My word is ________. Now you say it."
  2. Student repeats the word.
  3. Student taps out the word.
  4. Student writes the word.
Procedure:                                    
  1. Tutor says, "My sentence is ________. Now you say it."
  2. Student repeats the sentence.
  3. Student writes the sentence.
Lead students through an editing process afterwards (may not be appropriate for all ages/ability levels at first.)
