Picture
One of the core pillars of the Read to Succeed Asheville/Buncombe mission is a sophisticated and engaging training program that equips everyday volunteers with the skills and tools they need to effectively help young students learn to read.

We are hiring for a part-time trainer to assist in these efforts! Interested? Learn more about the position and submit your application on Indeed, click this link > https://indeedhi.re/2VrIedm

Background
Read to Succeed Asheville/Buncombe trains volunteers in the highly-regarded Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction. A flexible, language-based modality of teaching students to read, Orton-Gillingham engages multiple senses–visual, auditory and kinesthetic–to enhance memory storage and retrieval of sounds, syllables, and words.

Volunteer reading tutors receive 12 hours of training and are matched with a K-3rd student in one of Read to Succeed’s partner schools in the Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools systems. For 1 to 2 hours a week, volunteer reading tutors lead hands-on tutoring sessions with their students in reading, spelling, vocabulary, and writing.

Part-Time Trainer Position (Hiring Spring of 2020)
Read to Succeed Asheville/Buncombe is hiring a part-time trainer, to be responsible for the planning, training, supervision and support of our volunteer reading tutors and substitute tutors, as well as other program tasks necessary for the fulfillment of the R2S mission. This position is also critical to the development and implementation of new volunteer training models that reflect community needs and offer innovative volunteer tutor opportunities.

Qualifications
Applicant must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and have successfully completed Level 1: Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive Training. Prior training experience with adults is required. Classroom teaching experience is preferred but not required. Must be a team player and have a high degree of self motivation and professionalism.
