Happy National Volunteer Week

Read to Succeed celebrates National Volunteer Week and our many dedicated, compassionate, and committed volunteers! Our organization could not do what we do without the support of highly-motivated individuals who believe in the power of literacy in opening the door to opportunity for all children.
Our volunteers build capacity across the board by spending hundreds of hours every year making Read to Succeed literacy programs happen!
R2S Volunteers
Our volunteers (pictured above) are involved a multitude of ways:
  • Deborah C., our volunteer tutor in the leftmost photo, works with a student enrolled in the Read to Succeed tutoring program on phonemic Awareness, phonics, and fluency skills.
  • On the bottom left, Ashley D. volunteers at a game booth at an R2S Summer Reading Carnival.
  • In the top middle photo, Tina H. receives her Tutor Toolkit full of word lists, keyword sheets, and useful resources for working with students.
  • In the bottom middle photo, Elaine B. and Dave S. meet with AmeriCorps member Olivia to check out tutoring resources from the library.
  • On the bottom right, two volunteers weed the raised bed in front of our office in the Pisgah View Apartments Community.
  • On the top right, Molly, a volunteer from a service-learning class at UNCA, helps us categorize hundreds of individual letter/grapheme tiles to be used on magnetic boards with students.

To every volunteer who helps make what we do possible . . . THANK YOU! Your support powers this organization and drives our mission forward.
